It’s not official but we may finally have a date and venue for the hugely anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

A final agreement between the pair is still to be reached, however the bizarre clash looks increasingly likely to happen.

It will see one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in history go up against the break out star of the UFC.

Most pundits think it’s a total mismatch with McGregor being given little chance against the undefeated Mayweather.

But there’s only one way to find out and that’s for them to get in the ring and a new development has led some to conclude there’s not long to wait.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s website claims the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas is on hold for Mayweather Promotions on August 26. It also suggests that the event will be broadcast by Showtime, who Mayweather had an exclusive deal with before retiring nearly two years ago.

The website’s calendar states: ‘Mayweather Promotions will promote a professional boxing event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This event will be televised on Showtime.’ No further details are given.

Mayweather fought his last 12 bouts at the MGM Grand, making it the obvious venue option.

McGregor teased his followers on social media overnight with a post promising: ‘Something BIG is coming.’

Regardless, McGregor vs. Mayweather still remains a rumor for now but it’s clear the two sides are working towards reaching an agreement in the near future.
